What happens when a Category 5 hurricane slams into the most populous part of Florida?

Barry Fellman’s photographs of Hurricane Andrew’s devastating effects made days after the storm give a shocking view of the destruction at the Kendall Tamiami Airport, one among the hardest hit areas of South Dade.

Fellman, an artist and photographer, uses his camera to tame the chaos of a surreal landscape – airplanes and buildings torn apart and tossed around like toys on manicured green airfield. Fellman is a Miami native and recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant for visual art. His prints and photographs have been shown in museums and galleries across the country.
