Inspiring High Ideals: Celebrating Ninety Years of History at Coral Gables Elementary School, 1923-2013
October 25, 2013 – February 2, 2014
Coral Gables Elementary School figured prominently in George Merrick’s plan for Coral Gables. Throughout its ninety years of history, the Coral Gables Elementary School has engaged the public in local and national conversations on education policy, politics and social issues. Now nationally recognized for its academic and social programs, the school remains a source of pride for students, faculty, alumni and residents. In celebration of its 90th anniversary, this exhibit features architectural plans, historical photographs, and memorabilia reflecting on the history of the “A” school and its continuing positive impact on the community. Curated by Giselle Portuondo in consultation with School Principal Graciela Cerra, the School’s exhibit advisory committee, and historian Arva Moore Parks.
