6:00 PM – Movie Screening: “5B”
Before the virus that caused AIDS was isolated, San Francisco General Hospital and the University of California-San Francisco had already created the first AIDS ward in 1983, and this changed the way in which people with AIDS were treated in the Bay area and across the country. The 2018 documentary film, 5B by Dan Krauss and Paul Haggis, tells the story of this extraordinary program created by ordinary yet compassionate people to meet the needs of an evolving epidemic.
7:30 PM – Clinical Models of Excellence
After watching the film 5B, a group of healthcare providers will discuss how this model of care influenced initiatives across the country, and a discussion of how Miami met these challenges will ensue with audience participants.
