Miami has a plethora of shrouded memories that are inherited from generation to generation – those carried by immigrants and their descendants. The children of immigrants hold a consolidation of images, music, heritage, family stories, and much more that should not be forgotten. In embracing and conjoining their ancestors’ traditions and customs, the new generations expand their meaning by adding a flare of modern American culture. Employing multimedia formats and in different styles, these students present a Miami landscape that, rather than foreign, is very familiar to many of us.
This show encompasses selected multimedia work by students from Arthur and Polly Mays Conservatory of the Arts, Doral Academy, and Christopher Columbus High School, New World School of the Arts, and other South Florida areas focusing on themes related to Memory and Diaspora.
