Maria Sonia Martin: The Essence of Humanity
Maria Sonia Martin creates a setting for a viewer to engage in emotional and spiritual ‘conversations’ with the subject in the work. Here, the viewer interacts with another ‘human being’ who is expressing his or her innermost concerns and feelings, freely to those interested. It is a private and intimate meeting, an interchange at a deeper human level which unites two entities by means of common grounds. This exhibit presents a selection of work from Martin’s color series and black & white series consisting of original acrylic, oil, watercolor and ink paintings developed over the last 13 years.
“The artwork that I produce addresses the interior world of man. This interior world is universal to all men and unites us as one people regardless of our cultural or geographical differences. Here, we meet as equal human beings and find understanding and tolerance for the differences that divide us.”
