One-Day Symposium: Sacred Ground; Reflections on the African American Legacy
Saturday, Oct. 20; 10am-5pm
This symposium gathers the varied voices of nationally recognized experts to address topics on the history and culture of the African-American community in the United States. As a complement to the exhibition, “Sacred Ground: The Rise, Fall and Revival of Lincoln Memorial Park” presenters will reflect on such topics as Coral Gables’ Bahamian community, cemetery representation and aesthetics, religious practices in cemeteries, Critical Race Theory and more.
